Can you get sponsorship?
Possibly, but sponsorship is rarely the first question. First consider whether the employer has a strong reason to shortlist the candidate, whether the role and profile align, and whether registration requirements can be met.
Which role should you apply for?
RMO, HMO, SHO and SRMO titles are not interchangeable. The correct target depends on postgraduate experience, recent scope, clinical responsibility and supervision needs. Applying too high can create an immediate mismatch; applying too low can also raise questions about progression and suitability.
Why are you not getting interviews?
It is rarely one missing qualification. Possible issues include a generic CV, repetitive cover letter, unsuitable roles, unclear career history, weak evidence against selection criteria, inappropriate referees, limited location flexibility or the wrong level.
Do you need Australian experience?
Not every doctor needs prior Australian employment to secure a role. Employers still need confidence in communication, escalation, documentation, clinical governance, teamwork and patient safety. Observerships, supervised placements and education may strengthen a profile, but they do not replace a complete application strategy.
